Turner Construction - "Green" Commercial Construction
Turner is committed to the success and increased adoption of sustainable construction practices throughout the industry. As part of this effort, we train all new hires in the theory and practice of green building, emphasizing the LEED rating system. We believe Green buildings are not only good for the environment, they also provide immediate and long-term economic benefits for developers, building owners and occupants.
Turner has extensive experience across a wide variety of sustainable construction projects, enabling us to create a detailed databank of cost-effective Green materials, processes and suppliers to assist our clients. From our experience, the costs associated with these projects can be contained to a level comparable to traditionally constructed buildings. Turner has completed 40 LEED Certified projects and has completed or is currently working on more than 65 additional projects that are registered with the U. S. Green Building Council. Turner has completed or has under contract more than 195 projects with Green building elements.

Turner has a policy to divert construction waste on all Turner projects. Over the past two years, Turner’s Construction Waste Management Program has resulted in diverting over 83,000 tons, which is the equivalent of three times the displacement of the U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier. In 2006 Turner diverted 50,000 tons of construction waste. Turner has established a goal of diverting more than 75,000 tons of construction waste in 2007.
